What´s colourimetry ?

It's an instrumental technique which ultimate goal is to determine the absorption of visible light through a sample.
This sample can be a pure substance, a mixture or a specific solution.

What is the measurement of colourimeter ?

The colorimeter is made up of among other devices, a phototube charge of transforming a light signal into an electrical signal, this signal once amplified, is converted into digital data, that can be interpreted.

How are data represented ?

The L* axis (lightness) goes from 0 (black) to 100 (white). The other axes a* and b* represent variations between reddish-greenish and yellowish-blue, respectively.
